Splice Protectors
Splice Protectors are for completing the jointing process when you are fusion splicing fibre. Protectors are designed to prevent moisture, dirt and other contaminants from affecting the bare fibre either side of the fusion splice point. They also provide extra strength and protection of the joint.
AFC has two styles of splice protectors available. The more commonly used heatshrink splice protectors are made of two tubes, one for housing the fibre and one containing a steel or plastic strength member. When heated the tubes shrink protecting the splice.
There are also butterfly style splice protectors which do not require a heater and protect the joint by folding over it.
Splice protectors come in a various sizes to suit different cleave lengths and splice protector holding mechanisms.
Features & Benefits
Different sizes for different applications
Heatshrink protectors are pre-heated to ensure the inner tube will not move during transportation or fibre insertion
One opening lets you easily insert the fibre into the correct tube
