You can use the 3M Fibrlok™ Mechanical Splicing system when you need a quick, cost effective and secure mechanical fibre connection, typically when fusion splicing is not available or can’t be used.
Fibrlok™ splices utilise a metallic splicing element held inside a moulded plastic body and cap as well as index matching gel to provide you with a low loss mechanical joint between fibres. The splices can be reopened and the fibres repositioned if required.
A range of single and multi-fibre splices are available for different applications. These include the most versatile universal splices Fibrlok™ II 2529 and 2539 as well as angled fibre and 250µm-only splices. Multi-fibre splices are available for 4, 8 and 12 fibres. The Fibrlok™ termination kit and all associated tooling are also available from AFC.
